5 Blog Marketing Tips To Get More Readers

You launched your blog, you shared it all over social media, you told all your friends but you still only have a few readers.

Many bloggers get disheartened after a few weeks or months when their blog doesn’t attract a high volume of readers as they had initially hoped.  What if I told you that getting readers is easier than you think?  There is an audience dying to read about various topics, and with a few targetted blog marketing tips you too can tap into this bottomless barrel of interested readers.

5 blog marketing tips to get more readers

So what can a blogger do to get noticed?

Here are 5 blog marketing tips to get more readers:

1. Blog about a niche

The world doesn’t need another ‘vanity blog’ about what you had for breakfast. The days of the world aimlessly following some overnight celebrity because of a coincidental rise to success are over! Unless you are a super-model turned blogger,  people won’t care what you write about.   If you already have a vanity blog and are wondering why you are not getting traffic, then you need to know that the vanity blog market is saturated. Consider starting or changing your blog to an unexplored topic – an interest or a hobby for example.

2. Post to forums

Put the URL of your blog in your forum signature (don’t spam forums saying “look at my blog”). Join in conversations naturally, and people will get curious about you and click on your link to see what you write about.  Be sure to search out forums with a similar topic to your blog, so that you can build up repeat readers for your blog.  Try to find the most popular forums in the niche you are writing about. To find them, just go over to Google and search for your niche keyword plus ‘forum’ and you should get a list. Try to find forums with at least a few thousand active members.

3. Trackbacks & Pingbacks

Make sure you create trackbacks & pingbacks to other blogs that you have linked to so that they know about you. When people find out that you have talked about them, they will come to see what you said. So will some of their readers. Talking about popular stories from popular blogs may get you more than just a few visitors too.   If you don’t know what a trackback or pingback is you can read more about it here.

4. Comment on other blogs

Comment on other people’s blogs as much as you can (without spamming). In most cases, you can put a link back to your blog. It is also good to target blogs that talk about the same subject as you because you will get interested readers who are more likely to continue reading your blog. (Avoid using “comment spam” programs as Google can track this and will penalize you).

5.  Be consistent

Most importantly, you need to keep blogging regularly! Nobody will return to a blog that is updated monthly or only occasionally. You need to add new content 1-2 times per week, especially in the early stages of getting your blog noticed. This is hugely important.  As soon as you add new content be sure to send an email to your readers announcing your new blog & share the link on all your social media.

Use these 5 blog marketing tips to get more readers to your blog.  Blogging is not about just writing an article now and then. No! You need a plan, and you need to take action it every day.

  1. Amazing tips here! What stood out to me is posting in forums and leaving the link to the blog in the signature instead of the “check me out/look at me” spam happening. Also, I love that you’ve mentioned consistency. This is a discipline thing! Many people struggle with it. It’s not easy, but it’s definitely achievable! Great post.
